It’s a Mitzvah!

Chesed, lovingkindness in a time of need, is the responsibility of all members of a community. If someone in our congregation needs help,  as a community we offer help in a timely and caring way.

Be a Chesed Volunteer!

Through acts of lovingkindness, you will be an angel who really makes a difference to a member in need. Our acts of Chesed help us bring holiness into the world! You may be asked to make a phone call or two, to send a sympathy or get-well card, to prepare a main dish, to visit with someone sick, or to offer a ride.

Communication

Our rabbi sees to it that as a community we attend to members in need. Please help us by communicating all situations of need to the attention of the rabbi. When anyone hears that a congregant or member of their family experiences a death, becomes seriously ill, undergoes surgery, suffers a tragic loss, or needs pastoral care and support for other reasons, the first person to notify is the rabbi.

It is best if Rabbi Sigal speaks to the person in need (or to a close family member), because she will gather information on the person’s situation, friendship circle within KH and other pertinent details. The rabbi will pass this information onto the Chair of the Chesed Committee, to mobilize help from the community.
