DESCRIPTION:Phyllis and Saul Lowitt\, new members of our congregation\, wil
 l present this talk in anticipation of the beginning of the Sarasota Opera
  season. \n\nTheir focus will be on Lucia di\nLammermour\, one of the pl
 anned productions. \n\n\nSet in nineteenth century Scotland\, the opera te
 lls the emotional tale of Lucia\, a woman who is constantly manipulated by
  the men in her life. When she gets caught\, having fallen in love with he
 r family’s sworn enemy\, she is pushed to her limit. She decides to take
  control of her situation\, with tragic consequences for her new husband. 
 The opera is most famous for the third act “mad scene\,” in which Luci
